What we handle with the DGI
We take care of procedures with the Dirección General de Ingresos (DGI) for individuals, companies and landowners. You tell us what you need and we do the legwork.
- Payment plans: an agreement to pay a DGI debt in installments.
- Tax clearance (paz y salvo): regular, endorsed and land clearance for transfers.
- Formal letters (memoriales) to the DGI: requests, account corrections and replies to notices.
- Collections: account statement reviews, property tax debts, and steps in administrative or enforced collection.
- Any other procedure in the DGI procedures directory.
Any procedure with the DGI
The DGI publishes a procedures directory with the requirements for each one, and a list of online procedures. We handle any of them.
If your procedure is not on this page, look it up in the directory or message us. We tell you which documents you need and how it is filed.
Accounting and income tax returns are not part of this service.
From administrative to enforced collection
A DGI debt starts in administrative collection. According to the DGI, it moves to enforced collection (cobro coactivo) two months after the administrative collection stage.
In enforced collection, the DGI's Enforcement Judge serves a payment order in person and can order the attachment and seizure of assets. From then on, every step, including a payment plan, is in person.
That is why it pays to act early. In administrative collection, a payment plan can be requested online, with a 20% down payment.
We start with your account statement
Many procedures stall because a payment went to the wrong tax or a return is missing. For those cases, the DGI says to request an account correction.
So we first review your account statement in e-Tax 2.0, the DGI's online system. That tells us what you owe, what was misapplied and which procedure fits.
Who handles your case

- Certified public accountants on our team.
- Our own office in Obarrio, Panama City.
- We also serve clients who live outside Panama.
Frequently asked questions
Do you handle any procedure with the DGI?
Yes. Besides the ones described here, we handle the rest of the procedures in the DGI directory. Accounting and income tax returns are not part of this service.
How much do DGI procedures cost?
The DGI states that all its procedures are free. You pay any taxes owed plus our fee, which we give you after reviewing your case and before we start.
Can I deal with the DGI if I live outside Panama?
Yes. Many procedures are done in e-Tax 2.0 and others only need a signed letter. We tell you what to sign and how to send it, and keep you updated by WhatsApp and email.
What happens if I do not pay a DGI debt?
The debt moves from administrative to enforced collection. There, the Enforcement Judge can order the attachment and seizure of assets, including land. A timely payment plan can keep you from reaching that point.
